Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 proportional trailer brake controller. This is gonna work great for one up to four axles. The party number is 90195. Now the big advantage we get with the P3 over other brake controllers especially the time delay brake controllers. With it being proportional, it senses the negative acceleration of our truck or the deceleration. And it brakes accordingly. more

Redarc Tow-Pro Classic Trailer Brake Controller Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Redarc Towpro classic trailer brake controller, part number 331-EBRHV2. Here's where our Redarc Towpro classic looks like installed. As you'll notice, what's great about this brake controller, compared to other options on the market, is this will allow us to control our electric trailer brakes without having a big bulky brake controller mounted underneath our dash which takes up valuable leg room. Especially in vehicles that have limited space in front of the drivers seat. This is also a great solution for vehicles that have knee airbags underneath the dash because you can't mount a brake controller over the airbag. That would cause a problem if the airbag was ever to deploy. Now what sets this brake controller apart from others on the market too is that this is a completely user controlled brake controller. more

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the REDARC Tow Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller, part number 331-EBRH-ACCV2.The REDARC trailer brake controller is a great solution for those looking for a brake controller that is not only proportional, but can be put into a user controlled mode. User controlled settings are great for people that take their trailers off-road, especially if you have an overland camping trailer that you may tow behind a Jeep or other off-road vehicle. This brake controller works with not only electric brakes, but it also works with electric over hydraulic brakes without having to do any adjustment inside your vehicle at all. It'll automatically detect and work properly for both types. Now we'll show you how effective it is while we're driving. One of the great features about the REDARC brake controller is the fact that it's a very small and compact unit that can be mounted anywhere. As you can see here inside of our Jeep, the only visible part that you're going to see is the actual control knob itself. This control knob is what you use to adjust your power. more

Hayes Brake Controller - Proportional Controller - HA100400C Review- Video

Hayes Brake Controller - Proportional Controller - HA100400C Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Hayes air-actuated trailer brake controller. The brake controller activates your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. It activates immediately so there's no pausing, like with time-delayed brake controllers. The air-activated controller ties in to your vehicle's air brakes to sense the amount of pressure that you apply to the brakes, so thus, you don't automatically adjust the trailer's braking based on how you depress the brake pedal in your tow vehicle. The rate of brake application can be increased or decreased by turning the controller handle. Also, right here, there's a red LED indicator on the front of the unit that shows when the trailer's brakes are applied, and the light will glow brighter as trailer output increases. more

Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video

Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and installing the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller. Part number 90250.Here's what the Prodigy RF looks like installed. What's great about the Prodigy RF is if you have a trailer that is towed by multiple different vehicles that may or may not have a break controller installed in them, you'll be able to have functional trailer brakes with any vehicle towing it because the Prodigy RF is mounted permanently to the trailer and you have a handheld unit that you can swap between vehicles that only requires a 12-volt power connection. This is great for some vehicles where you don't want to install a break controller because it's not possible because you don't have a cold side of the brake light switch. Some higher end vehicles are like that or if you just don't want to deal with having a brake control mount in your vehicle because you don't want the cluttered look of having it mounted to the dash somewhere. All the Prodigy RF will require on the vehicle that's doing the towing is a 7-way connector that has the lighting functions and a 12-volt constant power source that's run to your vehicles battery. You don't need to worry about having your trailer brake signal, which is also known as the blue wire, hooked up. The Prodigy RF will handle all the braking ability internally. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 1996 Fleetwood Southwind- Video

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 1996 Fleetwood Southwind

Today in our 1996 Fleetwood Southwind Motorhome, we'll be having a look at and installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195, in conjunction with the ETBC7 kit, to make our installation easier, part number ETBC7. This brake controller is proportional unit, which can control up to one to four axles of trailer brakes. This is an ideal solution for towing small trailers, all the way up to large trailers. Being a proportional brake controller, it'll give us the braking power relative to the braking power that's being applied in our motorhome, or our car that's doing the towing, so our trailer stops evenly and smoothly behind us. Now, this is equipped with three boost level settings, which gradually step-up the amount of power and initial force of the brakes being applied. So if we have a trailer that we've applied a bunch of weight to, when we pick up some supplies or added cargo to it, we find ourselves not being able to stop as quickly. We can press this button over here to the top right, and gradually increase the power. This brake controller is completely customizable. The bottom right here's or settings button, we press that. We can select our brake type, press okay. more

Today we are going to be taking a look at the Hayes Enegerize III Plus. This is an electric brake controller. This proportional brake controller is for use on all trailers with 2, 4, or 6 electric trailer brakes. This offers faster and smoother stopping performance, as well as extra power and control. It activates immediately, so there is no pausing like when using time delay brake controllers. more
